I know someone here can tell me the difference between knucklehead gas tanks & panhead tanks. Are knuckles made with out the top vent hose? Are they 21/2 gal. or 3 gal? Not sure what I have found.THANKS Post by Cotten on Oct 5, 2004, 10:07pm Neither had the top vent hose. All were "3.5" gal until '65. (And even some of the police issue of that year, and even some '66 Chubbles, were "3.5"'s.) The only Knuck tanks that accept the Pan dash were '47's, and they are distinguished from '48-'50s by the close placement of the bottom crossover nipple on the righthand tank. Palmer's "How to..." best shows the difference.
