Tested my intake manifold for leaks using the method described by Cotton.I just made a plate that matched the bolt pattern of my carb(S&S), and used a piece of inner tube for a gasket. Found one of the rivets was leaking slightly, and the other was gone. Major leak. Is it really stupid to just fill the hole with JB weld or something?I dont see where the nipple can go. Post by billy on Nov 28, 2005, 8:03am woodie47- YES !!! Quick comment here, could you sleep at night w/JB weld in an empty rivet hole, that to draw fuel, sucks in ??? Where do you think the JB would likely end up ?? Do it right & have peace of mind. I'm sure you will get the opinion of Jack, &/or Cotten & perhaps others as well.... Post by Jack Hester on Nov 28, 2005, 8:34pm Woodie47 - The rivet serves to hold the intake nipple in place. Don't put JB weld in there, if you think there would ever be a need to have this nipple removed. Also, what if the surface (porous aluminum) has just enough contaminants to make the compound not stick. And, like Billy inferred about being under a vacuum, it's not going to go but in one direction. Install the correct rivet, with maybe some anaerobic sealer. Then, do your leak test all over. Jack
