Re: 65 crankcase vent

Thanks for the tip. I'll get it up on the lift so I can do more snooping. I have seen no evidence of hoses except to and fromthe oil tank. She's a belt drive conversion and my fear is someone just blocked the oilers and vent off trying to elim. oil leaks.

1965 crankcase vent

Does the 65 crankcase have a breather? Just got this bike and the inner and outer primary have been replaced with early style repops. I can't find evidence of the breather. The only thing I see is what appears to be a bolt (approx 5/16) inserted flush in the lower case. This can be seen through the ...

Need "Oil Pump for Dummies" info

Need "Oil pump for Dummies" info. Clymers and HD doesn't explain in detail. My 65 has the pump with the side check valve and top check ball. What's the purpose of these? I'm pretty sure about the outlets for chain oilers and the supply inlet from the oil tank but the two return lines from pump to oi...

Mikuni jet size?

Howdy everybody. Wanting to replace S&S B carb with a Mikuni. I've been running a 32mm on my 45 for years with no problem so I wanna try one on my panhead. What I hear a 40 or 42mm will work on my 65 pan. I'm wondering what jet size to try for a stock motor with fish tails they are not baffled but I...

Re: Oil pressure to high?

Original style rings (cast iron) were used and the oil tank is stock 57 with side oil fill, stock oil cap (plug style with rubber boot). Ring gap is correct and the piston clearance is .025. Fresh bore and new pistons as well. Is 60# pressure nomal at start up?

Oil pressure to high?

Just finished ring job and valve job on my 65 pan. This is a recent purchase and don't have any history on the engine. I notice when cold, oil pressure at 60lb+ and running temp pressure of 25 to 30lbs. I'm using 20w 50. The problem is when at 60+ lb pressure oil blows out of my front pan. Put new g...

Re: 65 Pan tranny main seal

Main drive gear oil seal. (behind clutch assy.) Big O seal - not push rod seal.

Re: 65 Pan tranny main seal

There is not enough room for two new style (double lip) seals in the case. With one seal and cork washer the seal protudes from the case 1/16" is this OK?
