Am showing my ignorance here. Is that a common practice? Is it easy to do? Sounds like a lot of trouble considering the alternatives. :?:

Armature.

My gennie took a dump. Worn out armature and brushes. Field coils still good. The best price i could find for armature was Amazon. An Accel $103.00. Free shipping. Local alternator generator shop got me one for $68.00. Thing is it was, when it came in you guessed it, Made in China. The man ordered i...

Re: FELTS?

I have some of the Permatex black super weatherstrip adhesive that should do the trick. The felts are from James gaskets. Thanks , all, for the advice. Jr Johnson. My next question was going to be, use the thin or thick rocker cover gaskets?

Amazing tale. As the old saying goes. It is a small world. With today's technology it is getting smaller everyday.

Re: Found out why my Speedometer is not Working.

panhog. Seems like the gurus here do not want to help you out with any advice. Except for 1950 Panhead. He is a good man. The same thing happened to me. Speedometer stopped working. Took awhile to trace down the reason. I had to replace the drive gear. It was flat across the top of the spirals also....

Re: Head Hog?

I got a call from Head Hog today. Had a nice talk with Mr. Don. Gonna send my heads in next week. He said he has a 4-5 month back log. The sooner I send em in the sooner I get em back. Not in a hurry. The old girl is up and running. But. They will be done. One more step to back to "original." Thanks...

Push Rod Tube Seals

This may be a ignorant question. I plead guilty. I have always used cork gaskets. Years ago I tried the rubber o-ring seals with not much success. I see J&P Cycles have Blue Silicone pushrod seals. And. Something called Buna-N Pushrod seals. Are the old cork seals still the way to go? Or is there so...

Thanks, George. I figured he was busier than a three legged cat with diarrhea. I'll just keep ringing his bell til I get a response.

Head Hog?

Does any one happen to know the status of Head Hog? Are they still in business. I called both numbers and got a answering machine. I emailed. Got no return call and no response to email. I have a spare pair of panheads that I want to get the seats built up and valve job done. Thanks.

Re: Are Pan Engines Inherently Noisy Part 2

.... The only reason the felt is there is to deaden rocker arm noise..... 1964Pan! Motor noise was not much of an issue in 1948. The primary purpose of the felts is to keep the rockers wet with oil for start-up. Earlier machines used felts for this purpose, including the Indian Four. ....Cotten Tha...
