What are these cases

Any Idea what these caseses are? the numbers mach on the bottom but has a diffent style bearing for the year stamp

In Illinois, they are a 'felony'.

The cases are from a '54.

The Factory rarely, if ever, took the time to get numbers that straight in line!

The numbers are so out of line on my motor; I was wandering if they were legit!

As always, your best option is to either find a legit state-licensed dealer to call his familiar government office, or boldly take it to the authorities yourself.

The authorities want perpetrators, not victims.
Get your papertrail in order, and request a titlesearch. Often when nothing comes up as registered to that VIN, or reported stolen (unlikely), then (in many states) it is at the investigator's discretion to "amend" your machine with additional stampings, such as state pictographs by the VIN (rare any more) or maybe just to stamp the same VIN into the headstock (ouch).

Usually it is best to have a reasonably complete vehicle for inspection, as the bare cases are just too easy to confiscate and destroy.

If your investment into the cases is minimal, then it might not be worth investing into a chassis for them, considering the risk. But if you have a rat chop laying around, what the hell!
