I drive Pan #50EL10226.
Any info on the 5 digits. I have only seen a 4 digit end series.
The stampings look original.
Trans is a 4 bolt case-no 5th under the kicker. I have read about a bracket that attached to the kicker cover. Anybody got one?
I am also soliciting opinions on proper felt location in cover.
thanks..

jim

In 1950 more than 10000 were produced, so your VIN can be right.

I did a double take when I read that number... I have 49FL10226

Regarding your transmission with no attach point under the kicker side. That is one very rare transmission. They only used that on the 1936 Knucklehead. By 1937 they added the boss in the transmission case for support. The 1936 frame also doesn't have the pad for the 5th transmission mounting point making it a one year frame. I believe they did add a bracket to the 1936 transmissions after they realized the need for this extra mounting point.

I drive vin # 50 EL 10328. You bike is 102 units off the line earlier than mine. Small world.

I keep looking around for a bike with a closer vin, but so far yours is the closest.

# 50 EL 10328 was purchased new in 1951 by a Pittsburg motorcycle cop. He owned it as his personal ride until I bought it 6 years ago.

Dudes: This is unusual. The Bible (Palmer) states on page7: "... if you have a 47FL1792, there will not be a 47EL1792 floating around."

Based on Palmer's overall analysis of VINs, you can always say that anything is possible, but if I was Jim or caschnd1 I would be taking a very, very close look at the VIN.

Respectfully, steve

Steve,

I have 49FL10226, and Jim has 50EL10226. I agree with you... if we both had the same year I would be very concerned. But being two different years it's not an issue. I just thought the 10226 match was pretty conicidental.
