Advice on VIN -- do stamps matter with a title?

The VIN boss looks clean and untampered but the stamps don't look right.
The cases have a clean matching title.

Bike is on ebay right now.
What's the deal with the '6'?

MM!

A title is just a piece of paper if the machine's VIN is boogered.

The photo is fuzzy, but offhand that one does not look bad; 59's had the straightback 6s and 9s only in the serial portion.
Many production years used a single stamp for the year numerals.

As a backup, you need to check the belly number. Lets say it starts with 159- or even 158-. Either would be fine. Next, measure the boss height, it should be somewhere close to 1/8". The pad will generally still have some casting texture also. If it is smooth on the face or you can see marks on the pad, start questioning. I agree with Cotton, offhand and considering the poor picture, the numbers look ok. A straight back 6 is fine for a few years in the serial number part of the VIN. Notice that the 9 in 59 at the start of the VIN is round back. That is ok. Also, alignment is rarely straight, so don't let that bother you.

Get a much better picture of the VIN and belly numbers before you buy.
