1950 Vin Check

Post by VoodooCLD » Thu Oct 13, 2011 1:57 am

Hello folks, i'm new to the forum, and vintage harley's as well. I've started gathering top end engine parts to build my self a panhead, and am about to buy a set of 1950 panhead cases off a friend. I was wanting your opinion on the numbers before i spend the money. The belley numbers match and look pretty good. let me know what you think.

Welcome to the forum, Lucas. I can’t see anything wrong with any of the characters in either of those two photos. And the left case should have casting number 112-481 while the right-hand case should have casting number 112-48. Stamped on the top of each case half near the rear mounting bolt holes you may find a sans serif 7 indicating a 74ci OHV. And I'll send you a PM with some other Panhead serial number info. Eric

I went and looked at my 1950 EL, And yours look like mine. I have a one (1) in the boss; and it looks the same as does the 50! :D
