Mose, as stated above, 11 9 indicates November 1959 casting. There were at least two types of numbers-only formats used on BT trans cases cast in 1959, with the year sometimes indicated by one character but on other occasions two were used. Including the code you posted, examples I’ve found so far are as follows: 1 59, 3 59, 5 59, 6 59, 7 59, 10 9 and 11 9.

You’ll find a similar thing happened with Panhead heads, front and/or rear, cast that same year: 1 59, 2 59, 3 59, 4 59, 8 59 and 10 9.

And also with Panhead crankcases, left-hand and/or right-hand: 3 59, 4 59, 5 59, 6 59, 7 59, 8 59, 10 9 and 11 9.

Why two different formats in the one year? I do not know.
