Any piece of hardware is ony "original" once.
A re-chromed piece is no longer "original".
If you are worried about chrome, you are no longer worried about originality.

hello,
or you can sand blast them and powder coat them,BLACK is good
this is a cheap way to go if the rims are in good shape (not bent ) or made from my old 73 buick . most repop rims that I have delt with suck. you can spend 3 hrs. truing it and it still will not come out round or a oem rim will take about 15 -30 min to come out nice and straight.

I painted mine black to get the bike on the road. I would like to get them rechromed this year. I have heard they do not like to do rims. I'm thinking of putting stainless spokes on them. If you were to use cad plated spokes they may not be original, but they can be OEM restored.
