My preference, teflon.
you can buy both from WEndy at the following:

As for the pattern, i just crossed them, one on one side, one on the other side, but what do I know.

My preference is copper, just anneal and reuse them forever. This was discussed on the S&S board a couple of years ago, opinions were pretty much equally divided, Remember the K used no gasket at all. I'm using the UL-R heads from Finland.
Agree on torque sequence.
I guess, take your pick :D

IN my opinion.....Copper head gaskets are best for transferring head heat to the cylinder....My head gasket is really bad and i did order a set of copper from Flat Lands Cycle......whats the last torque setting for the head bolts....and should a little bit of anti seize be used on the bolt threads...after they are cleaned with a wire brush !

Copper gaskets are great with iron heads. No more than 65#s and in increments to sneak up to that. I always start in the middle of the heads and work out to the furthest bolt last, it keeps them as flat as possible.A bit of anti seize is fine.
