H-D 6 VOLT 66006-29F BATTERY CONVERSION

Postby shiggs » Sun Aug 05, 2012 1:51 am

I went to my local dealer today and they have a 6 volt battery in stock that is the correct size for my bike (1946 WL45) but has side vent tube. Has anyone tried converting this to fit, could i plug the side vent and add vented caps?

Thank you,
Scott

Yes I have done it 4 or 5 times, what I do is use a hacksaw and cut the tube off close to the battery, then put a dab of scyclone (spell check) in it then use black tape too seal the tube even more, then drill small holes in the filler caps, done this on pans and 45s with no problems.............Lloyd

You can also put a 2x4 under the battery to raise vent tube.
If you cut vent tube be sure terminals don't touch battery box.
