Empty hydraulic lifters wont stall out or kill an engine. It will get noisy and sound like a blacksmith shop running full crew and you would surely hear that one. As for solids, they bormally loosen and gain clearance as the engine warms up....Joe

Pans never needed lead, and still do not. But they do need octane.
