That picture is not the correct tank. '65-'71 tanks do not have a side fill hole, only the main filler where the filter is.

Here is a correct one. Not mine, just on eBay,

Sorry Marty and Robbie. I took a picture of the tank on a '68 that was the easiest to get to and had obviously been changed somewhere along the line. The '67 isn't here now but here is the '69 tank that is the same as the '67.

Hey Robbie what year (s) was the side fill tank introduced for my own education?

My educated guess says 72.

Agreed Thanks. Now I wonder why one would change an oil tank.

BT oil tank #62504-65 used for 1965–69 models.

BT oil tank #62504-65A, with provision for side fill, first appeared for 1970 models.

BT oil tank filler cap (side fill), with dipstick, #62625-70, first appeared for 1970 models.

The square oil tank in E-start bikes has a tendency to fracture mounting tabs which caused replacement, sometimes with later tanks. There are also those folks who changed because they wanted the convenience of a side fill.

Roger that Eric and Robbie. Thanks.
Rear frame down tubes had a tendency to crack as well. That was another surprise on the '67 when it arrived.
