Do you need to remove the outter primary cover to adjust the mousetrap and clutch cable?

Even if you needed to adjust the free play on the clutch pushrod it would only require removing the derby cover. Just check that the clutch arm has free play before adjusting the cable and mousetrap pull rod.

Seeing your info shows a '66 so no derby. Just make sure the clutch arm has some free movement before it contacts the throwout.
