Trans lid. Not sure if it is Knucklehead or Panhead. Stamp says C6, is that March 1946? When I bought it I was told it was NOS but I do not know how to tell if it is or is not. Not using it and need some cash. $175 obo shipped? Let me know. I have a couple other things I will post as well.

Nice lid although I’m not after one at the moment. You’re right about C 6 indicating casting in March 1946. The lid may have been used for a 46 model Knucklehead or BT Flathead. Looks like only one relief below the shifter lever. If it had been used for a 47 model then on that side there would have been two reliefs, the second of which would have been required to accommodate the change in shift pattern for 1947-later models.

C 6 cannot indicate March 36 because these lids don't seem to have had a date code in 36. Earliest date code I’ve seen on one of these lids is C 8 for March 38.
NB: C 8 can also indicate March 48 but there are at least two differences between lids for March 38 and March 48.
