Good plan, Pete. You'll be riding that thing a whole lot sooner if you don't have to search for parts to put it together. Run it with what you've got, you'll be happy.
Looking good, too...!

Some more progress this week. Got the motor back in. Still need to do a couple more things like adjust the pushrods and finish up replacing some acorn nuts but for now I have to get this in one piece to take to recon to do a VIN inspection that Hawaii requires for out of state bikes. I will just throw on the inner and outer primary covers without the internals, slap on a taillight and a couple other things and get it down there on a trailer. After that I will take it all apart again and put it back together and take my time. I threw in a pic of my baby chopper that i get around town on. Not as cool as the old stuff but fun to ride, still working on this one too but it always starts and stops unlike my pan.

Got the fender on there, still need the fender strut. Anyone have a repop they are selling? Does not have to be pretty, just temporary until I get Oem fenders. I need to find a headlight too once I get some cash.

Not much going on since my kids have been off for summer vacation. They finally went back last week so I got a chance to get some work done. Not much accomplished but got the exhaust on and the taillight. A couple other little odds and ends as well but I forgot to take pics of everything. My panhead took up most of my time and that turned out to be not so successful either. Hopefully next Tuesday and Wednesday I can get some more done. Here is a pic with the exhaust on. I am looking for a correct headlight still that doesn't cost $1000, the one in the photo is just for inspection purposes here at the DMV once I get it to them.

Had some time to work on the 47 this week. Only got to spend about 2 hours but I made a little progress. I changed up the neck cups along with the bearings and everything else needed. I got the kit from HD Restorations I think. The kit looked pretty good, although I am not really sure what a bad kit would look like. It took a little bit of work to get the old cups out but with my friends help and a 4lb hammer we were able to get them to pop out. I wasn't sure how much grease to use so I just packed it in there, seams to be working properly. Other then the front end I just did a little minor tweaks here and there. My 58 FLH took most of my free time this week. Damn thing won't start and it's driving me nuts. Hopefully will get that fixed this coming week then I can move on to the Lightweight since that blew up then my Sporty.

As long as you thoroughly coated the bearing balls with grease, you're good. Excess will ooze out, just wipe clean.
