Been re-thinking the carb support ....Image

Feels like a bit of weight that the mount will need to contend with ...
Might just weld on tabs to the P-Series heads and come down to the adapter studs .. ??

The clearance between the nut on the case through stud and the lifter blocks is really tight. How are you coping? It's looking too close to put a nut on it. Another minor hurdle to jump, eh?
It was close for me, and all I had was a piece of 1/8" stainless strap for a carb bracket

Hadn't got to that part just yet...
But, I do have a few ideas on how to make it work...

I screwed a polished stainless steel acorn nut onto the stud, cross drilled it off center and drove an SS roll pin through the nut and stud locking them together. I then can install it from the cam side through the bracken and engine cases toward the left of the engine. I then use a nut & lock washer on the left side above the timing plug. No need to try to wrench around the lifter blocks....

Very cool idea .... I also had thoughts in that area, but with this motor the center stud can not turn in the case due the the Big Bore jugs (3-5/8") case bore cutting into the case stud .... To get around that, the mount and stud would need to be loaded as one piece and then installed onto the case ... I'm still in the think tank with how to pull this off...

Yup ...

Load the mount and spacer as a unit into the case, that's most likely how this will go down...
Right now I really can't do anything cause I sold off the brand new S&S jugs and don't have a way to mock up the motor for fitting the spacer ...Waiting on the new alum jugs from Speed & Silence ( Owner on the hunt for pop bottles )

When they show up will be able to nail down the crabs for the final count...

Just a thought: Suppose you sleeve the cases and use a smaller diameter through rod/stud? Just brainstorming an idea....

That is a good thought indeed ...

Not sure I would want to decease the size, thinking the 5/16" stud will have a handful to contend with due to the wight being so far out from where the mount will bolt up ...

Then make a nut out of hex stock and turn the hex off out until it clears the blocks?
