Just need to bore the jugs, assemble the heads, installed all the parts in the lower end and glue the cases ...

Crank been built for months all work in the gear case is done ...
It's downhill from here.... :D

Forgot to say:
Nothing came from the Mo-Co ... Every part on this motor is After/Market ...
The list is paramount ...

It's time to put this puppy together ....

Got a thread that pulled on one of the case bolts, had the lower end done and the cases was glued ... Until that case bolt stuck it's ugly head up ...
Had to pull the flywheels out to do the repair ...

The fix for the pulled threads in the case ... What yo're eyeballing here is just a longer bolt ... Being Harley used a 3/8 X 16 bolts with having a 1/2" head required a bit of custom work to be done on the 9/16" head of the Stainless Steel replacement bolt ..

Holy Moly .. Got more shine here than what Popcorn had in his shed .. !!

Is that an adapter to adapt the newest Aluminum Knuckleheads, from Tedd Cycles, to your Panny jugs?

Hey, just kidding. Some out there might take that seriously, and start off on how Tedd's stuff don't fit, but that's what the "adapter" is for....LOL... OK?

Hahaha ....
No, not an adapter ...

The jugs are Aluminum, thought it would be best to do all the boring/honing with them bolted down in torque plates ..
Simulates em being in operation on a running motor, nets a good straight bore ...

Image

These plates are made by Delkron and have a dual pattern for Shovelhead & Evo cylinders ...

Keep in mind that this engine build is using the S&S P-Series Panheads that uses Shovelhead cylinders ....

And Shovelhead rockers, so in reality this will be a Shovelhead engine with Panhead pan covers. Got to keep 'em guessing....

Indeed ....

These get oil to the top end like the Evo's, up though the pushrods ..
The rocker arms are drilled for oil to the bushings etc, unlike the Oem arms of the Shovel era ...

Oil drain back is the same as the Shovels, but with these heads I put in a special order with also having external oil drains.. Can set them up to drain back down the cylinders or run outside lines ... The oil route that not going to be used are plugged with 1/8" NPT plugs...

Since the "Speed n Science" cylinders do have the internal drains, that will be what I'll use ...

Won't be seeing any oil lines coming or going to the top end....
It's all internal ...

Remember years ago the Pool Alum. jugs .. ??

Image

They had a unique design made into their jugs for the returns ....
These SnS jugs are super beefy ... Nothing to be seen on the outside of em ....

I actually like the look of that stainless, I assume, tube for the oil drain, it looks industrial and purposeful. Outside return lines just look too busy, and like an afterthought, even if one is running monster oversized jugs. But then, that's just me....

The SnS jugs do look like they are a 3-13/16" Big Bore, but are in fact only 3-5/8" bore ...
Those Boys put as much meat into the design of em as the base and head bolts would allow ...
Just enough room to get a wrench on em ... Barely !!!

I am fond of ARP's 1/16 12 point stainless nuts. They have a large flanged bearing surface, and use a 9/16 12 pt wrench. + the SS is pre-polished and looks great on my Shovelhead.... And 12 pt head bolts, of course....

Tight fit ...
I already had the Snap-On tool ground down to work with S&S Big-Bore jugs, but had to do a bit more grinding on the critter to get it to work with these jugs ..

Hopping it don't pop on me ... ?!?!
