Pan head coil trade for 45 coil

#1

Post by shermanpup » Fri Aug 03, 2018 4:12 pm

Hello I bought a Panhead flat faced black coil at Wauseon , unfortunately it is too big for my 45 and gets in the way of the clutch arm . I would like to trade / barder for the same style (black flat face ) 45 coil maybe with spark plug wires
Thanks
Jim

Not sure what you need Jim as 45 coils and Panhead coils are exactly the same dimensions. Only the mounting bracket differs and even that was the same from '48 up.

Since your profile indicates you have a '34 RL/WLA/WL Mutt, I assume the transmission has an arm that comes over the top of it? and the coil gets hit by it? If you frame is '46 and earlier, just loosen the U-clamp bolts holding the coil and move it up higher on the seat post tube. Or maybe heat the clutch arm with a torch and bend it back (have to use a longer clutch rod to reach it). But this is all speculation as you haven't posted any pictures to help show the problem. Doc
