Electronic Ignition Rotors

#1

This is Shovelhead and Evo tech, but I am stumped. Wanting to install an Ultima iggy in a custom build Twinkie with a BDL nose cone conversion, and the question came up as to which rotor is correct. I say the later model Gold colored one, PN 32402-83, 1984-99 models, but we have on hand a Silver colored rotor, # 32401-80, 1982-83.
The question is what is the difference between the two, since I don't have both in hand to compare, does anybody out there know what it may be, anybody?

Darn aftermarket parts, they forgot to put holes to secure the points on that circuit breaker baseplate, looks like the center hole is too small too! Get out the portable drill.

No offense, and no idea

Andy....
That's a factory part, proves even the MoCo can screw up too. LOL
PS: Ain't gonna put no stinkin' points in no Twinkie, but we could....
Thanks for the levity..... RD...

The BDL site shows a rotor like a Dyna S ignition uses, not HD style. My Twinkies are EFI so I'm not familiar with what you're doing but I don't see how a rotor bolts to the end of the camshaft, or crank for that matter. Can it bolt to the front cam?

This Cam Cover from BDL, Vulcan shows one too.

along with gear drive cams allows any nosecone ignition, even points, to be used with a Twinlie engine. I found the one I have on eBay for an incredibly good price + an ultima iggy included too.

But now, none of this addresses my original question
