Cable route & mousetrap location

#1

Post by 6hds » Thu Oct 23, 2014 2:13 pm

For a 1960 FLH. Need to know the proper cable routing for throttle and spark from bars to carb and timer? Also the distance of mousetrap C clamp from the frame tab w/tapped hole. I don't know what its for either. Thanks everyone, for all your help on this project. Gary

6hds,

Did you try the "search" function on the forum?

IIRC, the distance from the center of the sidecar loop to the center of the trap u-bolt nut is 8 1/2".

THAT WOULD BE GREAT ADVICE IF THE 1960 FLH'S HAD SIDECAR LOOPS ON THE FRAME DOWN TUBE. I'LL MEASURE MINE WHEN I GET OUT TO THE CAVE. I'LL ADD IT TO THIS POST.

Mark, the reason I posted these questions is I ran out of ideas of what to type in the "search" box to get an answer. Got any? Thanks, Gary

Try this
search.php?keywords=throttle+spark+routing" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I would look at the photos in the rider handbook, and follow the setup and adjustment exactly, when its properly set, you'll know it..butter.

GARY,

MEASURED THE ONE ON MY 60 FLH. 8 INCHES FROM THE TIMER CABLE MOUNTING POINT, TO THE CENTER OF THE BOOSTER U BOLT.

From my experience, if you have dual pipes, the mousetrap hangs a bit lower. Also, every adjustment is critical - such as the angle of the clutch arm and orientation perpendicular to the motor. Too high, and it will hit your pipe. Too low, it will interfere with the shifter. All needs to be straight and plumb. Most important, grease EVERY moving part on the assembly, Including the cable, lever, spring, eyelets, rod front and back.. You get the point.
