Hey Adam,
thanks for the info. I did have an extra set of case bolts so I'm good on that. I was wondering the combo of washes and bracket/ clip as well... lol. Theres not a lot of room there.

I didn't read the entire thread, whats the order then? no washer against the case? Thats the first thing I did.... place a washer against the case... nut each side, clip and bracket next, nut on outside. (tempoary) I have no idea if the carb bracket go's against the case and the nut only on the outside, but I'm certain it matters for proper alignment to the carb.

I think I spend 10 times the amount of time right now just in researching details, then actually getting something put together. Thats how it go's..... Customs certainly are easy in comparison.

Tell me about It!, There are no washers at all on the case nuts... so its nut, speedo clip, nut, and right side is carb support bracket, nut... I know I'm used to putting a washer always under a nut...Doing mock ups and research is 98% of a restoration, and of course finding the right parts. I was lucky with my other bikes, they were all there. so It was just a matter of putting it back the way you took it apart, my 51 has been a challange, and I've learned so much along the way...and a lot of help from the good folks on this site! It has gotten to the point where my girlfriend told me " just go have a relationship with your bike, but its not going to give you ***** jobs" THE THINGS WE DO FOR OUR BIKES!....and I 'll keep doing what I have always done....PANHEADS FOREVER.

Hello gents, what would be the setup for a 58? I have a parkerized clip that supposed to go on the rear left cylinder stud under the nut. Is this correct? Also, do I keep the cad split washer, or just have the nut sandwiched between the cylinder and the clip? A picture would be fantastic of someone could share please;)

Call John Bordas in Colorado. He makes up speedometer cables using NOS housings and correct ends. Runs around $80. 303 420 4510
