Panhead 2 up seat.

Hi,, I'm wanting to fit a pillion seat to a 59 flh duo glide,, I'm wondering which is the best way to approach this,, just a pad on the rear fender or replace the single seat with a 2 up one?. If I go for a 2up seat is there any more modern seats that will fit?.

I have a pillion but it's just for looks, if you plan on carrying a passenger, that might be a stretch.

If you just want comfort and don't mind going with a modern frame mounted seat, I think that opens up a lot of options. The old ComfortFlex seats are actually pretty comfortable, but I'm not sure which version would be a bolts-on for your '59.

I was thinking frame mounted seat, was wondering if a seat of a more modern model would fit?. Looking at some of the modern ones they look the right kind of shape?

I'm thinking the Duo-Glide frame could be a cause for fitment problems on the Comfort Flex seat. Might be worth a try, though, as the CF works a lot better than the old Buddy Seat.

Anyone know if a comfort flex spring assembly would fit a 59 flh duo glide?

No, it will not fit. The frame crosspiece that it attaches to is too low on a pre '65 frame. It will only fit an electric start type frame unless modifications are made to the frame or seat suspension assembly.

Well, the ComfortFlex was just a suggestion, not an objective. There's still a whole world of late-model and aftermarket options out there.
When I bought my '52, it had a Softail style seat on it. You may have to use some creativity in mounting, but should be plenty of inexpensive choices out there. Check eBay, see what comes up.

I'm also after a grab/seat rail that will fit the standard solo seat,,all I can seem to find are for buddy seats,,any suggestions would be much appreciated.

H-D never made a rail for solo seats, so anything you find will be custom or aftermarket and not common.
