I'm also after a grab/seat rail that will fit the standard solo seat,,all I can seem to find are for buddy seats,,any suggestions would be much appreciated.
The Buddy Seat rail will fit on a standard solo saddle. I have one on mine.

You need the adapter plates that are on the seat in the pictures. The hand rail will not fit without the bolt on adapter plates. Here is one advertised on ebay.

Andy, is that on your '52?
I like the idea. I imagine the rail helps keep you from sliding around. Might try it on my own '52. I have a buddy seat with rail off a '59.
Do you have any photos of the whole motorcycle to see what it looks like in the big picture?
Thanks.

Yeah, that's my '52.

I have it on there for 2 reasons:

-when I give someone a ride using the pad that snaps on to the luggage rack, they can hold onto the rail if they want to

-I used to carry a big, heavy "Cobralinks" lock with me, and I found that I could carry it by laying it in the rail and circling it under the seat, to where I had installed a conduit clamp near the front of the seat(you can see the clamp in the photo I posted)

Here is a photo of the bike, with the Cobralinks on it.

Thanks for the photo, Andy. I like the look. Do you know if the rail came off a '52 buddy seat? Or is "correct" for a '52?
Maybe since it's a period modification it doesn't matter so much.
I'm seriously considering it for my own '52.
Thanks again.

Bigincher,
If you have a buddy seat from 52 era you wont need adapters to mount a rail, it would bolt up to the studs under the seat you would usually bolt hand grabs to. Guess I should try to take a picture. I used to have a 58 seat rail on my buddy seat, since it wasn't correct I sold it.
