Ways to attach a Rubber to a Rigid oil line?

#1

Post by rozemab » Sat Nov 11, 2017 2:04 pm

I’m curious if there are ways to splice a braided oil line to a rigid line besides a simple hose clamp.

Does someone make a dedicated connector for this type of splicing?

My plans are to reinstall my oil filter on my 58 pan with the RSES but I need to have some flexibility. My goal is to leave the rigid connections in place at the connection points and splice in the braided line midpoint in the oil runs.

Looking for something more professional looking than a clamp.

Thanks, Brian

Use '70s type factory clamps, much cleaner than a screw clamp.

Do you mean the crimp style “one use” ? The type you pinch close?

Factory crimp is the way to go.--So far any bike that I seen come in with steelbraided line anywhere ,was pretty damaged in areas! That braided line is like a hacksaw/Even worse on rigids.---Respectfully---Richie

There are places that make up hoses for industries, construction, etc., that could put an end on your braided line. I would look for someplace like that. They might be able to use your rigid end and marry it to the braided hose cleanly. I've seen oil line sets for sale that have rigid tube ends with braided steel middle lines. But as it has been mentioned, steel braided hose is merely decortive, as there is really no high pressure on the return line to need the support that it would give the inside hose from bursting. So a screw type or crimp clamp would work fine, sounds like you're looking for a way to mask the clamp. Doc

Correct. Having a hose clamp hanging on the line is what I want to avoid. I have seen “finishing clamps” that cover the clamp and looks decent. I was hoping there was a fitting that has the ferret on one side and a squeeze like pinching device for hose end.

Glad you found what you need. I have used the covers that go over the hose and clamp.
