Harley trademark

In an effort to educate myself, can anyone help pinpoint what date Harley started to add a ® to the Harley-Davidson name on rubber pedals, tank & fender emblems, jewelry etc? That should help facilitate dating various "OEM" parts or claims to such.
Thanks in advance.

64Duo,

My observation is that it is hit-and-miss. Not all official Harley stuff with the bar & shield or other motor company identification includes the registered trade mark symbol. This extends to products marketed even today, you will not find the trademark symbol on all of the products or parts that come across the counter. I don't think you can date an item based on the trademark symbol.

just my humble opinion.......
