An advantage of *H.D.S (Japan) 5:10 x 16" tires (right) over the economical Cheng-Shin 5:10 x 16", are the wide, flat, footprint of the HDS, vs. the (Taiwan) domed tread. I still prefer the thrift and handling of the Cheng-Shin's, (once driven a hundred miles, removing the slick mold release).

*As was told to me by a Carlisle Tire? engineer, this is the original Speed-Grip tread pattern that Carlisle bought from Goodyear?. Carlisle later sold the pattern to a company in Brazil, and the tread was later sold to Yokahama? who now makes it under the H.D.S label. Both Goodyear and Carlisle's were the MT-90 design (Sidewall leans over when the bike leans over. Tread foot stays flat.)
