she's RUNNING!!!!

Well thanks again everyone for all your help, really couldn't have done it without you all.

She's out, she's running and damn she sounds good! I haven't taken her for a ride yet, head some other crap I had to do today. tomorrow I'll get her out for her virgin ride. She DID start on her third kick when I started her the first time. I've never believed much in the ignition off for a kick or 2 before turning on the ignition and I didn't this time either. fresh out of the kitchen 3 kicks and away she went!

This video is after she was warmed up from her initial start, checking oil return to the tank, timing with a timing light, then she sat for about a 1/2 hour, then one kick and she's good to go.

Thanks again one and all!

Al - It's been great to read about your hard work and progression. If most of these old iron lovers are like me it's like when I was a kid and got to go to a friends birthday party and have just about as much fun as they were having. The video of your first start is sweet too. It sounds great. Any time I hear a panhead with a stock or near stock setup I get major flashbacks to my dad and us kids in the early and mid 70's. I never get tired of hearing the sound. Thanks for sharing and congratulations.

Thanks guys!

yep John, it was the clutch. I was getting anxious to get her started so I just rechecked all the adjustments and kicked. we'll see later today when I get her out for a ride of the clutch is slipping under load but I think I got it right now.

I still have a couple of minor things going on but right now, who cares! lol

al,

leave the derby off and take her out for a spin!

if it slips you will probably notice it most in 4th gear. take a 9/16 wrench with you, if it slips try turning down the spring pack nuts half a turn at a time. then try again.

shut the bike off before attempting the adjustment!
