Engine and trans alignment

#1

Post by Eric » Tue May 25, 2010 2:52 am

How is the best way to align the engine and transmission? What I'm talking about is the sprockets. I haven't been able to find some good instructions and wondering if there is a trick to it. The bike is '54 pan rigid frame.
Thanks
Eric

Lay a straight edge from the motor sprocket to the trans sprocket and it should line up exactly. Then take the measurement from the trans sprocket to the outside of the clutch basket. Lay the straight edge on the outside of the clutch basket and the measurement from the straight edge to the motor sprocket should be exactly the same distance. Jiggle motor and trans as needed to get proper results.
