New intake nipples, manifold problem

Post by Panacea » Sun Apr 15, 2007 4:56 am

I just had the threads re done on my heads to cure a severe leak. Upon reassembly I found the manifold wont fit in-beetween the new nipples. I tryed loosening the base nuts and moving the cylinders and heads back as far as possible with no luck. Has anyone tryed puting the manifold in a lathe to take a bit off the o-ring groove? I'll need about .025-.o30. It's allways something! Mike

Now you know one more reason why gummyworm conversions are so much more trouble (and expense) than they are worth. (The original 'plumber's' design is adjustable.)

Anyone with a lathe can easily trim both of your manifold spigots evenly. Aim for less than a .020" gap on each side. And if the major OD is larger than the nipples', have that cut to equal so the clamps won't want to tweak.

Good luck,
