Many times, have 2 on bikes right now.Be sure you DO NOT use the long S&S style intake.Use the stock intake with the short adaptor, makes for easier starting.Sea level starting jetting-Main 290-310,pilot 30-35 ,jet needle 6DP1,cutaway 2.5.If you have to run the pilot airscrew in to less than 11\2 turns from seated go up 1 pilot jet size, more than 21\2 turns out go down 1 pilot jet size.HTH

Thanks al ot.
I have some of these VM38 carbs in a box of parts.
And my Keihin of old model is not complete

And I am used with VM carbs on other bikes, so once I get close. I willl find out jettings.

Thanks very much for giving me that starting point.

I will make it a try and report back

Hi,
I used what I had in the garage.
VM 38.
main jets: I had 280 and 320. I used the 320 to be on rich side
Needle and jet?? => Put needle in pos 4 (one pos richer than middle)
Pilot: 30
S&S inlet (I have no original).
Air screw: 2 turns out

I started up and did a test run of 6 miles. Cruising speed only
The bike worked well with smooth and nice run. Stable and low idle.

Very good starting point for fine tuning.
(Go a bit leaner step by step)
