Zenith Carb setting

Post by mcraeav » Wed Jul 29, 2009 8:17 pm

I have a Zenith carb on my 62 FLH and it looks like there is only one adjustment screw on the top, beside the idle speed setting screw. Is that the low air adjustment? Does anyone know how I should set it?

The idle/air screw is on the top of the carb in the center. I can't remember the proper starting point, but 2 1/2 turns out from the bottom should get ya close enough to start. This may be to lean, if so it will spit back through the carb. Just back it out till the engine idles at the fastest speed, then turn it back in about 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Of course the points and timing must be adjusted properly before adjusting the carb. You may have to raise or lower the idle setting after this adjustment. Better to rich than to lean.
