Panhead frame - which year wishbone or straight

#1

Post by bpaulson » Mon Sep 18, 2006 11:29 pm

Hello,

I have a 1957 Pan and ran into another rider at the beach who told me he didn't think the frame was 57 as the legs are wishbone. Do any of you know what years HD used wishbone legs and what years straight?
Not a big deal but I am just curious.

Thanks, am I correct in assuming that a pan before 54 would have wishbone?

bpaulson-

wishbone frame 1948- early '54 models only..

There are 'date codes' on the frames starting (IIRC) 1952 & later.
Located under the gas tank on the R side of the top motor mount. Likely under many coats of paint.
There is more written here in the archives about the codes, if yer interested.. Just do a 'search'....
Otherwise enjoy your Pan & ride like the wind.... ;D
