throttle on 51

#1

Post by 1951 adam » Thu Jan 17, 2013 1:13 am

not really digging the angle here but functions smooth, I will have to wait till I start it I guess to do any tweeking, plate seems to open well , just not 100% sure if the throttle plate is going to need adjustment at the stop, I pushed the lever on and only compressed the spring about 50%, Ive been messing with this for hours i'm done for now..... anyone have any insigh t? I cant find any other photo reference to this , only what I found on our site here, no factory photos. Palmer says to trim the coil about 1 inch from end of support, but I couldnt get full movement, had to adjust it all 7 times to get it right, if anyone wants to chime in, much appriciated, Adam

Adam!

The spiral spring upon the throttleshaft will often bind if fully compressed.
Ideally, the spring and lever are in place before the throttledisc is inserted, to assure the spring and shaft are in their sprung position.

Otherwise, just pressing the shaft upward while installing the disc, and then inspecting for full closure, will have to do.

If the disc is not centered at the shaft's sprung-upward limit, it will not close properly, and wear into the body.
