Oil Tank Drain Plug

Post by King » Fri Aug 01, 2008 3:23 pm

Hi All

The threads on my oil tank drain plug are a bit iffy so I want to replace it at the next oil change. I believe I have the 58-64 version tank as it has the ears in the back and think that the plug is a 5/8" x 18 is that right?

Yep. There's oversize plugs too (9404-1, cad.) and (9714-1) o.s. Parkered. Both are Colony® part numbers. Probably should have some plug washers on hand as well. There's the flat brass washer (VT 37-9067) and crush washer (VT 15-0194). You never know what will work once the oil tank threads have been "worked" for the last 50 yrs. or so. I have 5/8-18 plugs that work in some of my tanks and some will work only with one type of washer or another, once the tank threads have been flattened-out over time.
