1959 throttle spiral

#1

Post by ozwick86 » Sat Oct 15, 2005 6:57 pm

My throttle control wire is badly bent where it enters the cable housing at the carb end and will not return smoothly when I return the throttle to the closed position. I ordered a control wire and a new wire block at the carb end.

Questions:

First, is it necessary to remove the grip after I remove the end screw and spring in order to replace the control wire on the plunger, or is the grip stuck to the plunger? If so, is there an easy way to remove the grip?

Second, are there any other items that need to be checked or tricks to make the job easier?

Thanks,

ozwick

hello,
as long as your grip has a hole in the end you wont have to remove it. just stick the BIG end flat blade screw driver in and loosen.the nut and spring will stay in and the spiral will come right off.
as long as the cable housing is not damaged the wire should slide right on in,
don't cut it to short......
