Seats and windshields for a 64

#1

Post by panhead_jim » Mon Jun 14, 2010 8:06 pm

Looking for sources for solo seats and windshields/mounting hardware. Is it best to go to the HD dealership or is there a better supplier? I see V-Twin seems to have all the parts. I also need to return my spotlight/turn signal brackets back to stock. Is this bracket part of the windshield system or is it separate? I see V-Twin lists two brackets, one which is two separate brackets and one which is a single bracket with a connecting bar under the headlight. Which is correct for a 1964 DuoGlide?

Panhead Jim!

It came with separate brackets, but there are variations of those.

Do you own a Parts Book?

No parts book yet. Guess I'll put that on the list.

Jim,
If you use the fitment info out of a catalog such as V-Twin you are just setting yourself up for frustration and excessive expense. Slow down and invest in a parts book that is the closest in year to your bike. As parts were superseded they are listed as going back to earlier models when in fact they are not correct. Remember, knowledge is your friend, and impatience your enemy!

I figured as much. A parts book is definitely something I'll be getting soon. Also thought I would try and make a trip to Wheels Through Time, they have a nice stock '64 to look at.

Take some pictures, and post them here. We'll be looking forward to the WTT report.
