which is correct keyed toolbox or a wingnut toolbox ? thxs

1955-57 tool box has the speed lines (ribs) and is secured by a wing-bolt. No key. (Palmer, page 92)

yes but palmars page 607 prototype shows keyed toolbox ?

As I understand it, the prototype photos sometimes do not accurately represent the production models.

Check this shot of Wayne's 55 and you can see a wingnut style.

His 55 has been inspected by the AMCA judges, on a number of times and never has been pinged for the incorrect toolbox part to the best of my knowledge.

Might be a reasonable indication, I guess.

here is one with a lock on it.

i suspect a lot of things in '55 were changed early in the model year.

thats 55 pan has all the fin accessory's extra fins on the valve covers on the oil filter ,front brake I wonder how original that Pan is ? looks like real nice one !

allso look at taillight oil tank as per order in 55 were painted in Hollywood green and chainguard and toolbox allso should be in Hollywood green then look at that sneeking through the picture with that gem of a tank wonder what it fits and what he paid !

That Hollywood Green '55 is very original and has been owned by the same guy for a long time. He is on the AMCA board and rides the crap out of that bike. One year he rode it in every national road run and rode it TO the road runs from his home in the bay area. That amounted to several cross country trips.
