What is this tab on left front fender bracket?

#1

Post by 50Hydra » Fri Dec 03, 2010 4:38 am

Does anybody know what the tab on the left fender bracket in this pic is? (bottom of picture). I am looking for an original front fender for my '50 FL. This one has the correct riveted brackets, however i haven't noticed that tab before on other fenders, and was hoping somebody would know if it is specific to a police model or something similar?

Thanks

Jayson

Jayson,
That is a late fender and that tab is to keep the brake hose to the front caliper from getting chomped by the cowbells. Not anywhere near correct for your '50! Also note the rounded edge on the brackets. The one you need is flat! It also will have the hole for the cable (tube) bracket.
