Circled F motor bolts for Pan rest

#1

Post by IRon » Tue Jan 04, 2005 3:38 pm

Hello,

Does anyone know where I can purchase the correct motor mount bolts for an early 60's (62) Panhead?
They are the bolts with the "circled F" stamp on top which seem to be correct for 1962 Panheads.
At least the few original(?) condition bikes I saw had them. I haven't seen any original early 60's Pans with the usual "CP" stamped motor mount bolts. But, I have only seen maybe half a dozen originals.
I was hoping to buy at least the (2) two rear "circled F" stamped motor mount bolts. (would be great to complete the restoration)
Maybe you guys have some in an old coffee can in the shop? I checked all the cans I got with the bike - no dice.
Thanks for all your help! BEST SITE ON THE WEB !!

Try this place... http://www.olddude.com Lots of old hardware listed here. You'll probably need to call them since you are looking for something very specific. I haven't done business with them but just noticed a while back that they have a lot of parkerized hardware.

Hello,

I called Old Dude (Great Guy-has every kinda correct fastener for restorations) he says the "circled F" bolts didn't come out until the 70's or late 60's, anyway, not early 1960's. The "CP" stamped motor mount bolt would be correct for early 60's.
Any more help or comments would be greatly appreciated !

Thanks again,

Anyone,

Does the Parts Manual from Old Dude have all the part numbers and pictures for bolts, washers etc?

Thanks,

I ordered the parts manual from old dude for my 59 and it is one of the best investments I have made.

I checked my stock 61 Pan and 72 shovel and both had the circled bolt heads.
Sorry I do not know where you can get them. Did you try Way back wheels? I imagine any bike shop that works on the old stuff will have several coffee cans full.
One thing I do know is that you cannot see these bolts at speed.

Thanks for the info Doug,
"One thing I do know is that you cannot see these bolts at speed."
- At speed flying past our heads on the highway?
Just kiddin'... I know what you're sayin'. It's a Rider now and will be a rider after the resto!

(Got whacked by more than a few things over the years - no motor mount bolts though)

Thanks Much - IRON

Iron,
One thing I have been impressed with with my pan is the serious lack of vibration. I can't think of anything that has vibrated off. Except maybe for a chainguard but that was the only non stock part on my bike. But with the dual point timer and the shocks on the frame and the seat I do not feel the shakes at all.
Now my shovel is a different story, the vibes that come thru the seat always make my ass itch. :'(
Later,
Doug

Ain't that the truth!

My Pan is smooth, smooth, smooth - compared to my Shovel!
Couldn't live without either of 'em though.
