Delco-remy starter parts

Description: I like to find a source of parts

Hi Fellows I'm not sure if I'm gettin lazy or am not looking in the right places. Before I tear it out of the bike, I like to find a source of parts. I looked in JP's and Fox for replacement parts, maybe I missed it. I have read that the prestolite units can be used as a straight replacement, but I would rather go with the original (65). I thought I heard somewhere that some Motorboat engine Company's also used the Delco-Remy units but I not sure which ones.
Thanks in advance. Mark

The MoCo used black-labeled Delco starters on Servis '64 through maybe mid-'66 as well, so outfits like 'Throttlemasters' out of Chicago may have police hardware left to scavenge from.

It is unlikely that reproduction parts will appear soon.

Many of the early production were ruined by water sucked in by the FL primary vacuum, as the o-ring in the deflector was an afterthought. Indeed some early drive housings are not slotted or drilled for a condensate drain at all.

Bill's Custom Cycle of PA would be my next guess for a source of NOS parts.

Good luck, and if you find anything cheap, pick up two more for me.
