Capacitor: where to connect it on the electrical system

If you have one of those "battery eliminator" capacitors, where do you connect it on the electrical system, to the Armature and Field terminals on the generator?
I don't run a mag but was wondering how it works, running without a battery. And seems like the headlight would go dark at idle.

Hi Kell.
I talk to a friend of mine about the issue, and he use to run his Triumph (Lucas) with magneto and without both batteri and capacitor for 3 years. And later his Harley with magneto, and a capacitor just instead of the battery. And I guess that the most important thing is that the field not will lose the pre-magnition. So many opinion about this issue.. And this was one..
