Electrical charging problems

#1

Post by rbackpage » Sun Oct 18, 2009 4:03 pm

Help- having a problem with generator and regulator - a holwing sound when running. I have replaced bearings and brushes yearly (approx 5000 miles) - last rebuild performed by a trusted professional. Generator is a 65A, in a FL 1965 police special. I have double checked the wiring, polarized, generator light is on and when RPM increased light gets brighter - any ideas what the problem could be?

Its been a while since your post on the howl noise three or so weeks ago. You probably have your problem solved with the holwing noise by now. Was gonna suggest tight gear backlash. Have you checked that one out?...Joe
