Opinion on wiring harness.

#1

Post by Fred pickering » Mon Nov 15, 2010 12:50 pm

Asking for opinions on a wiring harness for this 53 pan its really become more of a retro old school i meaning aftermarket wheels , disc brakes, etc. I need everything want to run combo turn, stop and running lights alot of kits i looked at dont have wiring for turns. Also they dont show a hook up proper to the Gen. I have a Cycle Electric 12v with built in reg so was looking for a nice kit with all wiring. iam using the orginal dash with three light system which came with ing switch . any thoughts on a good manfact?

fred,

the reason you are having a hard time finding kits for turn signals is because they were not a standard item in the 50's.

i have used kits from hummer emporium for my pan and a kit from old dude made by mv spares for my wla.

the hummer emporium kit is well made with all the terminals included. http://www.hummeremporium.com/store/ind ... at&catId=9" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

if you plan on running a semi stock set up with the front terminal panel under the fork tins you can add turn signals easily by using the oem accessory schematic posted in the knowledge base. all you would need is some extra wire and a 12 volt flasher.

I had a bad expirience with hummer emporium through ebay. bought a harness, paid through paypal. after 2 months of waiting I tried to contact the guy, he would not reply. in the end I got my money back from paypal. I am now very cautious of buying anything from him. I'm not bashing the guy. I like to give the benift of a doubt. as for me I would look else where. radar

i also bought a wiring harness from him through ebay. he never sent it or even bothered to respond to emails. finally got the money refunded after opening a case against him. that sealed it for me. i'll be getting mine from old dude.

Fred,
Ziggy is good people too, over the years he and I have done a lot of business, and its all been good.

What I really don't understand is the bad rap that Hummer Emporium is getting, I have also done a lot of business with Craig LaBee and none of it was bad. I never dealt with his ePay store, always went direct, and never had a problem.

go with who you trust, if they burn you then try somebody else.
