Battery Question

#1

Post by panz4ever » Sun Dec 19, 2010 9:46 pm

I am running this (12 volt conversion with solid state regulator)...
Dave32EAfter1.jpg
with this battery box...
CIMG1433.jpg
Inside dimensions of the box are 7 x 3.9 x 3.4 inches

What is the minimum size amp/hr battery I can use. Have found several in the 7 amp/hr range, a couple in 8, 8.5 and two rated at 9 amp/hr.

Outside of the normal electrics I would eventually like to add passing lamps and maybe even turn signals.

This is for my 49 EL project.

Contact Geoff,

bergogi@gmail.com

He distributes these boxes. I believe that the largest maintenance free battery that will fit standing on end would be the Yuasa YTZ10S. See specs below

Big, thanks for the compliment. Generator was redone by Perry and has the correct tag on it for the 49.

Oz, didn't think about contacting Geoff...should have since he sold me the unit.

I have found the battery type(YTZ10S) in at least 5 different makes...Yuasa, Power Max, Power Source, Westco, Adventure Power Sport. Prices vary from around 60 to 108 bucks (Yuasa the most expensive of the bunch, Westco is the mid-range). CCA ratings go from 150 (cheapest make) to a high of 225 (just below the Yuasa in price).

So my next question is...does CCA have any relevance to a kick-only bike?
