Panhead Ignition Switch
Hi Everyone,
I am changing my stock ignition switch to an electronic ignition switch. The problem is the stock switch has 5 teminals and the electronic switch has 6 terminals. Has anyone one have a simplified wiring diagram for this switch? I have the service manual with the wiring diagram in it but it's difficult to follow all the wires when I don't use 1'2 the stuff that's in the manual. So, if anyone can help me out wiring this switch I would appreciate it.
Thanks, Bill

Re: Panhead Ignition Switch
i tried to use a 6 lug switch in my 64 one time and the cover would not fit cause the light shroud around the 3 dash light hit the 6th screw. don't know if you'll experience that.

I already found out about the dash cover hitting the switch. I had to grind away the metal seperating the oil and gen lights' Everytime I tightened down the dash nut I would blow a fuse. Took about 2 or 3 times before I figured it out. Thanks for the advice.

I have a diagram I made for my Pan's & I think I cut off the ofending term.. & I do not think I used any jumpers (I think ) . I also used circuit breakers.I will scan it & you can see if its useful to you'all .
I like the electronic switches , they are smooth & no loss of batt. voltage in between switching.

Thanks Fourthgear. If you can scan your diagram that would be great. Between you and Bigincher I should be able to figure something out.

Re: Panhead Ignition Switch
Just remember , the color codes are not HD. They are mine, my own made wiring harness. I have another diagram that's some where , that has where I put the circuit breakers. I just haven't had time to look for it .
This one is the one I carrie on the bike.
If you look at the switch , you can see the terminal I cut off , because it got in the way of the dash or dash lights.
This is also of the Electronic ign.& CCI Gen. w/electronic reg. .You can look up your TM for Points.
Its crude ,but works . My other one is laid out better. It has to be in my notes some where.
