50' fl case studs/bolt

#1

Post by kehughes » Sun Mar 25, 2012 6:20 am

I know there are different lengths and types of case studs(straight/tapered). Can someone tell me how many of each length/ type there are total. I am going to refinish some for my engine. Also, is the 1 case bolt(not stud) parker or cad?

Thanks for any help.

my original low milaege 1950 fl case studs nuts and lone bolt in front of case is parkerized.call colony and ask for all parkerized if you want repo, also request the longer top center bolt if you are using stock speedo cable clamp.HAPPY TRAILS

Well, I have probably 15 or so old original studs and some parkerizing solution. I was planning on picking out the best ones to refinish, but now I've just went ahead and cleaned and parkerized them all. Look like new. Now I need to pick out the correct lengths and styles. I didn't do a good job noting which ones were which when I tore the engine down and now they're all mixed up with the others. I do plan on using the stock speedo clamp.

The most important are the two bottom ones which are the larger diameter case locating studs. They index the cases together and have the flare on the ends. The other bottom one is same length but small diameter. The longest is the one through the cavity for the breather at the back upper portion of the cases. The one on the base of the rear cylinder is just long enough for the nuts and the timer wire clip. Base of the front cylinder is the bolt threaded into the right case. Center one has enough threads for a nut over the carb bracket, another nut on the other end, then the speedo clip and a third nut. And of course the breather. It is all quite logical if you just hold them up to the cases.
