Primary chain size

Description: Can someone tell me what each of the numbers of the chain size 428-2-82 mean?

Can someone tell me what each of the numbers of the chain size 428-2-82 mean? I know that 82 is the number of links, but does the 2 mean 2" or double links, or something else? I have no idea on the 428 unless it is just the manufacturers series number.

By measuring everything I could think of on the (428-2-82)primary chain I was able to determine that the 428 refers to the distance (.428) from the outside of one side plate to the outside of the next side plate (separated by a roller). I confirmed this by measuring a 530 chain which was exactly .530 between side plates. The 2 refers to the double links, and the 82 is the number of links in the chain.
