Is the rear sprocket on a 58-62 brake drum the same as a rear sprocket on a 63-66 brake drum.I know that the brake drums are different.
Any help appreciated.

sad to say that those sprockets are not the same -- have looked for suppliers of 58-62 sprockets but none were found -- only why is to order the drum with sprocket attached ---

Hi Ned! Here in Sweden, a big supplier of parts called Bikeline (http://www.bikeline.se" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) has a sprocket, with part.nr. 52-147. Costs SEK 550 (about 55 Euro).
Probably cheaper than buying a whole drum.
There is an English version of the website.

Good Luck!

Ned:

In the US you can order the individual sprockets from http://www.antiquecyclesupply.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for less than $40. Their catalog lists them as the same, but their price list has them listed separately by part number and price, so I know that they have them.

58-61 is part# 4475 ($38.50)
62-66 is part# 4476 ($31.00)

And.....now antique cycle supply has an on-line catalog just up in the last month or so. I still need to get a hard copy, but this is very convenient.

Yep, online catalog is cool! You still need to have the price list of course, and I would highly recommend getting a hard copy of the catalog anyway, just for the diagrams if nothing else.

Thanks you for the replies.I was hoping the answer to my question was that both the sprockets were the same.Years back I bought a new sprocket for my 58-62 brake drum, but decided to run a 62-66 set up.A few years down the track the sprocket on my 62-66 setup came loose.Removed the sprocket from the brake drum and compared it to my 58-62 sprocket and they are identical. Both sprockets fit both brake drums.I am really confused. What is the physical difference between the sprockets.Helpppppp!

I assume that if they both bolt on, that the difference would be either the teeth or the composition. Dunno for sure though.
